The City of Germantown has a Farm Park. It is a working farm with a community garden. There are several buildings on the property and the facilities are rented out for events (i.e. weddings, parties, etc.). Currently there are a few chickens and goats that are housed at the Farm Park. The question has come up as to what additional animals can they have at the Farm Park as well as what interaction can the public have with the animals. Can they offer a small type of petting zoo environment for parties to where guests can have some interaction with the animals (i.e. feeding, petting, etc.). Does anyone have farm animals (horses, pigs, cows, goats, etc.)? If so, what type of interaction do they have with the public, if any? What liabilities would we be opening ourselves up to and how do you reduce your liability risks?
